I am humbly inviting you and 20 other group administrators of Facebook groups to attend and participate in the 13th annual HHEW Leaders Conference & Retreat, Sunday, June 12 – Wednesday, June 15, at Circus-Circus Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The HHEW Group is a small, emerging African-American think tank that I founded in 2001. This year's timely conference theme is: "Our Think Tank, the Social Media, and the Greater Society".
Like you, I am an administrator of a Facebook group that focuses on the African diaspora, but to my knowledge, there has never been a sitdown forum where we could strategize on how to collectively use social media in general, and Facebook specifically -- until this forum. I often believe that we are not fully taking advantage of Facebook (but Facebook is clearly taking advantage of us). And I think we all agree that we can do better.
But why via this think tank? And who really is Dr. Keith Orlando Hilton (Ife Chukwu), besides being a media researcher, professor and activist? The advantages of belonging to a think tank, as you know, are numerous, including opportunities to help shape national and world public policies, earn income, publish and network regularly with like-minded people.
I have greatly reduced the 2016 registration fees for you ($109 due by April 1 or $129 after April 1), which is lower than what members are paying out of their own pockets. I am also reducing the registration rates for each of your guests, should you bring guests.
Please get back to us by February 2 (our 15th anniversary starting date), so that we can finalize our panels. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at: [email protected]. (209) 662-1076. Or inbox me.
Looking forward to your reply. Can you imagine multiple Facebook groups beginning to use African-centered strategies after sitting down and networking? Regards.
